I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be named Södermalm if it was located in Södermalm.The police headquarter is located by Kronobergsparken. The average swede - who DO read a share of the huge flow of swedish detective fiction - may think that is a little bit cool, some "fiction feeling".
In Kungsholmen, the home interiors are probably more fancy than building facades. This it the porn theater Manhattan at Hantverkargatan 49. Richer and richer people move in to their nests in a low-profile manner.
In the movie Vuxna människor, the leading role Frank says this about possible risks with dating another woman in public: "We are going to some small damn restaurant at a backstreet at Kungsholmen - who would see us there...?"

Getting there and around Kungsholmen: A representative walk, if you really want to get a sense of the district. Map. Get off at subway station Rådhuset and walk on Scheelegatan, through Kungsholms torg, down to the water. Turn right and walk straight, until Polhemsgatan, where you turn right and walk uphill to Hantverkargatan, where you turn left and walk straight until S:t Eriksgatan. After that you can turn left to the Rålambshovsparken park or turn right to get to the subway station and neighbourhood called Fridhemsplan, which is more transit and shopping than representative for Kungsholmen.
